Our very special guest for this weeks episode of The Dose is Holmes Wilson, one of the creators of the SOPA Strike movement, as well as one of the founders of sopastrike.com, fightforyourfuture.org, and freebieber.org.

The SOPA Strike movement are responsible for the internet blackout, which occured on January 18th, 2012 and involved over 75,000 websites including Wikipedia, Reddit, Mozilla, Jammer Direct, BoingBoing and, to a lesser extent, sites like Google and Twitpic.

Jammer Direct Joins S.O.P.A./P.I.P.A. Blackout Set For January 18th at 8 AM

Jammer Direct has joined the fight to stop the S.O.P.A. (Stop Online Piracy Act) and P.I.P.A. (Protect IP Act) by staging a blackout of jammerdirect.com as well as all four internet streams. In their place will be information on what S.O.P.A. and P.I.P.A. are on the main site as well as how you can fight it and streaming audio on all of the streams featuring information on the bills.

Jammer Direct was listed as the #1 Social Network for Music as well as #1 Social Network in the Attractive Interface category, beating out 13 in the Music (dethroning Reverb Nation) and 174 in Attractive Interface. Jammer Direct also placed 6th in Social Networks For Teenagers, 13th in Top 20 Private Message Sending Social Networks, 15th in Top 20 Best Social Networks, and 14 in the Best Social Network for Anyone category.

New Direction, New Streams, New Website...

Jammer Direct is pleased to announce the next evolution of it's JammerStreams. As you know, each JammerStream is basically a promotional tool used by Jammers from around the world to showcase their original music. What you probably didn't know is that there is currently a six month backlog of music still waiting to get onto JammerStream One (the premiere station). this is due to the volume of uploads as well as the number of original tracks each Jammer uploads plus the time spent verifying it's originality. So to remedy this situation and get your original music heard in a more timely matter we are no longer considering JammerStream One the flagship station. From now on, all music tracks will go to their assigned JammerStream "genre based" station with JammerStream One being considered the "general" or "basic" station. Also, in accordance with this new direction, we are adding new stations to better accomodate the different genres that make up Jammer Direct's membership.

JammerStream Freestyle is Jammer Direct's new Hip Hop/Rap station and will make it's debut on November 23rd. JammerStream Heartland is Jammer Direct's Country station and will debut at the beginning of 2012.

JammerStream One will also be where you can catch all of Jammer Direct's original programming starting with new episodes of The Dose on November 23rd. The Dose has been completely revamped for it's new season.The first new episode will feature an interview with national recording act Stereoside as well as a tribute to Amy Winehouse with two new songs off of her upcoming release "The Lioness". Expect new things on a global scale with the new Dose!

In addition to the new streams and reorganization, Jammer Direct is launching JammerStream.com on November 23rd to coincide with the relaunch of The Dose with Zo. The purpose of JammerStream.com is to showcase the original music of the Jammers to the rest of the world ie people who wouldn't normally see a reason to be on JammerDirect.com. Jammers will still upload their tracks to JammerDirect.com and NOTHING on JammerDirect.com will change. JammerStream.com will simply be an outward facing portal showcasing YOUR music to the general public.

New shows on JammerStream One

Last month, new shows began premiering on JammerStream One. Virtual Listening Party is the latest music from Jammers around the world with a difference. VLP plays only the entire album in full length form from start to finish.

JammerStream Mobile LIVE!, which debuted last spring with UV Hippo live at Piere's, now features live performances for Jammer Direct from venues around the world. So far, we've streamed shows from both the United States and United Kingdom. With future dates set for both aformentioned countries plus select venues in Europe and Canada as they come in.

The Chocolate Box is a surprise in every episode. The only way you will know whats playing is by listening in.

New original shows on the horizon: The Ultimate (a no holds barred call in talk show), The Vibe Rators (rating the latest entertainment stories), and The Social Media Syndrome (the good AND bad of Social Media).

Jam U 2 Hell is back for Halloween

Jam U 2 Hell 2 will begin this year at 6pm EST on Halloween night and conclude on 6AM EST November 1st. The first Jam U 2 Hell was all weekend long as Halloween fell on a weekend last year. But, it was such a good success due to the fact that our JammerStream Mobile request line actually had request messages in it for Jam U 2 Hell when it's not even used for that. We're also on a different stream provider than we were on this year so there shouldn't be any of the bandwidth issues we had at the peak time on Halloween.

Jam U 2 Hell 2 will also feature new and newly remastered horror for you to frighten up to.

The Big Reveal of The Phoenix Project

The Big Reveal has begun on The Phoenix Project. We have initially selected 1000 Jammers at random to participate in initial testing of Phoenix as well as getting involved with special aspects that require large amounts of participants and areas for comment. Commenting and feedback will include everything from features to the current branding of the final product.

While we only need 500 people to participate in this round of testing we have sent 1000 of you invitations straight to your profile in the hopes that we get to 500 in a reasonable amount of time. If any of those people do not wish to participate or simply do not answer, then we will make the invitation public.

As soon as the initial phase of testing is complete the general public will learn of it's capabilities.

Introducing The Dose, Jammer Direct's Latest Show on JammerStream One

The Dose with host Zo debuted on JammerStream One on January 26th, 2011. I know this JamNouncement is a little late but we wanted to make sure the formatting and technical glitches were fixed, which they are! The Dose stars Zo, who can be seen in the video JamNouncement dated 1/29, and is recorded at the Living Loud studio in downtown Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Dose features the newest approved uploads by Jammers from around the world along with commentary on each track. "The fact that we are listening to unsigned acts from all over the globe makes for a pretty interesting mix" exclaims Ryan "but I think it highlights the diversity of our members as well as the many different cultures we have represented on Jammer Direct. And although The Dose replaces The Dirty Dozen, there is no way the shows can compete. They are just too different. My dream would be to have both shows back to back as a bookend and showcase it as the latest and the best." The Dirty Dozen ended it's run on January 12th.
